Selenophilia

"Selenophilia" refers to a strong affinity or love for the moon. The term originates from Greek roots; "Selene" is the Greek goddess of the moon, and "philia" denotes love or affection.

Selenophiles may feel a deep connection with the moon, finding beauty, inspiration, or a sense of peace in its phases, its light, or its symbolism.

This affection can manifest in various ways, such as enjoying moonlit walks, practicing lunar rituals, or simply admiring the moon's presence in the night sky.

Gaia's Call

Gaia dances in the moonlit glade at the edge of the forest. Her dance and call is so powerful it causes a disturbance or shock wave in the atmosphere.

Listen to the Moon

Once we enter the dark half of the year, we feel like hibernating by the log fire, well I do anyway. I love watching the flames as they bring warmth and light into my home. The dark days can make us feel low and we long for light. This painting is called Listen to the Moon, as she gently reminds us that the sun is still there even thought we cannot see it, reflected back at us in her moon face.

Can you see her magical earthy consorts in the woods?

The Raven Guide

Tentatively he stepped into the clearing, lantern lowered against the light from the hazy hunter’s moon. His spirit guide Raven watched from the branch of a nearby oak tree. Taking a step into the unknown is scary, but better than the alternative of stagnating and not growing. Can you see her magical earthy consorts in the woods?

Phoenix Flight

Deep in the heart of the forbidden forest, a phoenix flies having risen from the ashes of her own fire once again. It can be hard to see the chance for a transformation of mindset when you are feeling stuck.

Be like the mysterious hooded figure in my painting and observe the way of the phoenix. You will find your own way to emerge anew.

The Holly King

As the ruler of the dark half of the year, the Holly King is named for the cheery evergreen tree whose bright green leaves and red berries are a welcome sight in the cold winter months.

The Holly King stands guarding the family as they stand around a roaring fire, warming themselves.

Wonderful Words - Client Reviews

"I had seen and bought two pieces of her figurative work previously and enjoy the way she crafts the oil paint to create such detail and emotion.

She is a skilled artist from a technical perspective yet she has a way of building emotion into the piece too.

You connect instantly to your commissioned piece."

Andy

"I have several original pieces that Claire created.

They were designed to establish a theme in a room where a person could go and escape the day to day grind for a little bit. In each piece, a person could find their connection to something magical, to something that would help them either meditate, focus on something else entirely for a short period of time, just find a little serenity in a crazy day."

Eugene

"I bought a piece of art in an auction that Claire had created to raise money for a local Owl Rescue Sanctuary.

Claire created a number of pieces and donated the money raised to help the sanctuary get through the flooding damage and the loss of income due to Covid.

Claire is very a very talented artist that has an incredible attention to detail and the piece I bought was fantastic."

Colin

"I met Claire via a networking meeting and subsequently arranged a 121.

She explained that one of her projects was to match her artwork to any given company's purpose. I asked if she'd paint a picture for my hypnotherapy business.

A few weeks later my canvas appeared and I couldn't be happier with the result.

Thank you, Claire. Love & Respect."

Portals of mystical scenescapes and sculptures to transform your mind from the mundane to the magical

Those who don't believe in magic will never find it...seek it for yourself.

About Claire

Claire was born in a small town in the UK in 1977. A studious, quiet and introverted person, Claire escaped into her own world of creating art. Torn between two careers, she chose to follow a scientific path and graduated with an honour’s degree in science in 2000.

The power of the mind and transformation are key drivers behind Claire’s work. In particular, Claire likes to create a sense of power to enable you to manifest what you desire to bring purpose and meaning to your life.

Being a Pagan, her subjects are mystical woodlands, mythical deities, strong female archetypes and capturing the tranquillity she finds in nature. Claire says “I love to bridge that liminal space between mundane reality and the magical where exciting things become possible, and intrigue fills the space. Empowering your mind to take action. To me, magic = intentional transformation.”

A degree level scientist as well as a skilled artist, Claire uses scientific principles and methods in her role as an Art Mindfulness Facilitator. She incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neurolinguistic Programming into her teachings.

As a scientist she is fascinated by how things work and came to be. Yet, she needs art to bring forth the 'why'. From the staggering colours of the Aurora Borealis to the gentle change in smell of the start of the Autumn season.

She is more at home listening to classical music with her cat, or walking in the woods than she is in a crowded place. For in the silence, magic happens.

Her latest collection called Transcend, invites you to begin your transformation journey. She is offering a free print from this collection to help as many people as possible to experience their own transformation.

I help people to transform into a more magical version of themselves through a mysterious sculpture or a mystical scenescape. I am a scientist and a Pagan and my art is about magical transformation of the mind. I know how powerful our minds can be and how we think influences how we experience our lives. I am the artist with the magical paintbrush.
